The Shining Inspired TV Series Coming From Bad Robot

HBO Max have ordered three one-hour long drama series from Bad Robot Productions. These include one set in the 'Justice League Dark' Universe, a series based on Stephen King's The Shining titled 'Overlook' and Duster- an original drama written by LaToya Morgan and J.J. Abrahams.

As reported by Variety, all three shows will executive produced by J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot’s head of television, Ben Stephenson. Rachel Rusch Rich, Bad Robot’s executive vice president of television, will serve as a co-executive producer. Warner Bros. Television will produce all three shows, while Warner Bros. International Television Distribution will be the global distributor for all three shows.

Overlook is described a horror-thriller series that explores the untold stories of the infamously haunted Overlook Hotel. The project reunites Bad Robot, King and WBTV, who previously collaborated on the psychological-horror series Castle Rock for Hulu. Kevin Reilly, chief content officer of HBO Max sounded excited at the prospect of these upcoming shows.

"What an amazing start to our association with the wildly imaginative Bad Robot team under J.J. and Katie [McGrath]. What could be better than an original J.J. idea and then Warner Bros. letting them loose on iconic I.P. from Stephen King and the DC Universe and to provide more must-have programming on HBO Max.”

The brand new drama, Duster will be set in the 1970s South West exploring the life of a getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate.

As for the Justice League Dark series, there are currently no other details or which characters it involves. The characters incolved in the DC Comics of course include the likes of John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Doctor Mist and Swamp Thing (among many others). I can only speculate this may have been one of the other reasons Swamp Thing was cancelled as quickly as it aired. Shame really as it was a fantastic series with brilliant practical special effects.

We'll update you with anymore information released regarding the upcoming series.
