Bruce Campbell Reveals Plans for New Evil Dead Film Titled 'Evil Dead Now'

Sam Raimi of course announced plans for a brand new Evil Dead film last year, and Bruce Campbell has opened up about the film in an interview Empire this week. He has also announced the film's director, Lee Cronin, was in fact hand picked by Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi himself after his work on his film 'The Hole in the Ground'.

“We’re just getting off the phone with Lee Cronin, who is writing and directing the next Evil Dead. It’s called Evil Dead Now. Sam handpicked Lee – he did a cool movie called The Hole in the Ground. We’re going to get that sucker out as soon as practical.”

For anyone getting their hopes up about Bruce Campbell picking up that chainsaw again though, the film will not feature Ash Williams at all. In addition to that, it looks like the new film won't have any ties to Alvarez's 2013 entry into the franchise. As for what we can expect from Evil Dead Now, Campbell gave us a bit of information regarding the film and the possibility of where this franchise is likely to go.

"From this point forward, they kind of have to stand on their own. Which is fine. And liberating. You could have different heroes, different heroines in this case. This one’s gonna be a little more dynamic. We just want to keep the series current. And the mantra, really, is that our heroes and heroines are just regular people. That’s what we’re going to continue.”
